Biography - Jean Paul Rena

Jean Paul Rena is hailing from the Netherlands. Born in an artist family he is a blues and guitar addict from the first day he remembers. Growing up in an atmosphere of black African and American roots music he found blues the most natural way to follow this path in his musical career.
He found all his heroes were fine guitar players, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, Albert King, B.B. King, Clapton & Stevie Ray Vaughan. After seeing and meeting Stevie Ray Vaughan he eventually started writing his own material and fronting his own three piece band and released five albums so far.

Jean Paul Rena´s music is recognizable as emotional mix of Blues, American Roots Rock and Rock & Roll.

Rena states ´the albums reflect a sort of documenting my life, my blood, my heroes and my musical journey over the years´. I also wanted myself to be completely genuine as an artist — singer, guitar player, songwriter and producer - and I take things happening in my life and put them into music´. By not following the path of styles, expectations or marketing I made it all really personal and ……free from outside powers.
“ Unpredictable maybe but hey...... nobody buys an album he or she already knows".

In 2018 he released his last album, "A thief known for stealing hearts”.
For 2023-2023 a live band-album can be expected.

Jean Paul Rena  will be live performing in the Netherlands and abroad, ranging from juke joints to festivals. For summer  2024 he will also be bringing his Big City Blues from 'the European Delta' (NL) to Portugal and Spain.

As he finds himself normally backed and supported by an excellent rhythm section JP wil in 2023-2024 play as a duo with harmonica ace Bas Kleine.
